The deciding run was scored by Dominican in the bottom of the 9th. Nomar Garciaparra was hit by a pitch. Alfonso Soriano came to the plate and stroked a base-hit. Aramis Ramirez then stroked a one-base hit to load the bases. After an out was recorded, Matt Holliday stepped up to the plate and he slapped a single giving Dominican the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Dominican had 15 hits overall, while Tampico had 8. The victory went to Dustin Hermanson(9-5) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs. Dan Miceli(3-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.
